Memorial Day Camping Trip

We had our first family camping trip this  Memorial Day at Cunningham Falls, Maryland.  This was a fun experience that we think we are going to make a family tradition. From hiking to the falls to campfires at night to

the Bobby Crocker cook off, it was a weekend of fun.

The first night we were there, we had a good time around the camp fire with our friends from

the site over, Lisa, David and Julia.  We played some cards and then turned in for the night.  The next day we decided to try to hike to the falls.  We were told it wasn't that hard and that they were beautiful so we took off only to find out we had to go down steep paths, climb rocks and traverse the land.  It wasn't as easy as they said, especially when you can't see your feet because you are carrying a baby on your front or a 3 yr old on your shoulders.  (Can you guess which I had?) It was a site to see though, the falls were beautiful! We cooked marshmallows over the fire that night and had a great day!

Sunday, we had the Bobby Crocker Cook off... which Peter took 2ond place in! He used tortilla, home grown strawberries, and dark chocolate in the pie iron.  It was a fun ordeal and even better for me because I got to be one of the judges and sample all the pies!  Brian Cole and his buddy were the winners with their pancake, marshmallow, chocolate and syrup pie.  It was delicious.  Peter and his dad made a pineapple cobbler in the dutch oven also and decided to make it a challenge for next year.

We also got to play some games with the boys and by ourselves.  I never go anywhere without my cards so we taught Stephen to play go fish, played some cribbage, baseball, jump rope, and kick ball!  It was a blast.  Peter had a good time too, because he could hit the ball far and the kids thought it was great!

We had a blast and the boys did very well considering their ages.  So well in fact that Peter has decided that we will venture out to camp maybe once a month!  We are so excited for that!

Trip to Maine

We had a wonderful time in Maine for 2 weeks!

Stephen and Scott enjoyed playing with their Uncle Jeremy and Aunt Kristen, teaching them a new Wii game, playing soccer and baseball, and hanging out. We all enjoyed the fabulous camp and the fun that brought, fishing and going out on their boat.

Other fun experiences were eating Maine lobster, playing cards, watching A. I. and hanging out with "Grandma" in the green house.  Stephen helped fill the cups with dirt so she was able to transplant many plants before putting them in the ground.

We did have some other notable things happen while there.

Scott had to go to the ER for a breathing treatment (he's fine now but you can sure tell who their mom is!) and both boys had to be put on steroid meds. We had a time trying to get back home (I now refuse to use Delta as an airline and will never fly through JFK again) and made it back the next day... staying the night in New York City by myself with two little kids because of "weather related issues" and missing my flight that was supposed to leave at 7:20 and arriving to the gate at 7:13 to find that the plane had already left.  But we are home safely now.  Back to the good parts of the trip...

Scott flew on his first airplane, and Stephen enjoyed it for the first time! Scott got his second tooth while there and he definitely bonded with Papa Tim! Stephen had a great time seeing the fish that Tim caught. He sure  had the touch... Mom and I were able to get out for some girl time and I was also able to go out for a couple hours with Kristen for some good sister time.  I was over there for Mother's Day this year and my wonderful husband sent me some gorgeous flowers!
It was a fun filled vacation and I look forward to getting back up there this summer!
